Kegiatan yang diikuti oleh para siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 2 Kaimana menghadirkan narasumber dari Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), Sinara serta Konservasi Indonesia (KI).
Dalam sambutannya, Kepala SMK Negeri 2 Kaimana Girmanto mengungkapkan apresiasi atas inisiatif Pemuda Katolik dalam mengedukasi pelajar mengenai isu perubahan iklim.
“Kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh Pemuda Katolik ini merupakan kegiatan yang sangat baik dan baru pertama kali dilaksanakan di sekolah kami,” ungkap Girmanto.
Lebih lanjut, Girmanto berharap kegiatan seperti ini bisa terus dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan guna meningkatkan kesadaran generasi muda agar peka dengan isu lingkungan.
“Semoga kegiatan ini bisa dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan, dengan demikian, siswa-siswi kami bisa menjadi agen perubahan yang menyuarakan isu krisis iklim serta lingkungan di tengah masyarakat,” harapnya.

Jimmy menjelaskan tujuan utama kegiatan ini adalah menumbuhkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan sebagai bentuk mitigasi terhadap dampak perubahan iklim.
“Lewat kegiatan ini kami bertujuan menumbuhkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan bagi generasi muda sebagai bentuk mitigasi terhadap dampak perubahan iklim,” tuturnya.
Jimmy berharap kegiatan serupa ke depan bisa melibatkan lebih banyak elemen masyarakat, termasuk Organisasi Kemasyarakatan dan Kepemudaan (OKP), komunitas, serta pemerintah daerah.
“Saya berharap kedepan semoga kegiatan seperti ini kami bisa melibatka semua lapisan elemen masyarakat,” harapnya.
